Perched on the hills and overlooking the sea, Ramatuelle is an open window on to all that a typical Provencal village can offer in the way of charm and authenticity. You will never tire of strolling around its network of paved streets, dotted with sculpted stone staircases and arched doorways and lined with houses with balconies decked with flowers. Fig and olive trees complete the landscape, surmounted by the spire of Notre-Dame church and its wrought-iron campanile. In the rock, old caves provide a shelter for craft shops.
But, staying at a charming hotel in Ramatuelle, such as the Hostellerie Le Baou, also means being close to the beaches of Pampelonne, the coastal paths which run past the village on the way to the Canadel coves, the forest trails through the hills to be discovered on horseback or bicycle. Not to mention, of course, the wine plains of Ramatuelle and the wineries where you can sample the vintages from the region.
